Update earthquake 1 week later

It's been 1 week now, since the big earthquake hit Haiti. Many after quakes have followed and caused new damage. All near Les Cayes and our dear Ile a Vache. There are more than 2000 deaths, ten thousands of wounded and about 1,5 people with material damage (mainly their houses and the roads). 

We received some pictures of the damage in Ile a Vache and you can see that also in Ile a Vache the earthquake has caused a lot of damage

 

People write us that they are afraid, hungry and thirsty. We receive information that the little bit that is available is shared between te people. 

So this is the moment to do what we can to contribute to help the Haitian population to survive. We have set up an action, in coopration with a befriended foundation (Stichting vrienden van Haiti Nederland), that has very good connections with the Dutch representative in Port au Prince, to collect money to send food and fresh water to the people in Les Cayes, the city where our students are and that was the most severely hit by the disaster. 

Your contribution will be very much appreciated. We can guarantee that 100 % of it will be spend directly to the help of those that need it. Our own local project leader, Edisson, will see to that. Please be so kind to contribute generously to our joint action and transfer money to

“Help Les Cayes earthquake 2021”

 

 

New disaster in Haiti: a shout to help

 

Saturday August 14th Haiti was hit (again) by a severe earthquake. This happened near to Les Cayes, the place where ‘our’ students visit school. The catastrophe in the city is enormous.  Many deaths and wounded.  Food is getting scarce and drinking water hardly available. 

As far as we know now, our students survived, but they are scared, hungry and they need fresh water.

Our foundation has not a goal to provide emergency help. So we have found a sister foundation, Stichting Vrienden van Haiti (https://vriendenvanhaitinederland.nl/) to cooperate with, in order to set up help for the population in Les Cayes. They are in close contact with the Dutch honorary consul in Haiti, who will coordinate activities in Port au Prince. Our own local contacts will organise the distribution of the help in Les Cayes.  

We are shouting out to you all for help: 

• Our promise is that every single cent donated will be spend directly to help the people of Les Cayes.
